China stories in new century

My feeling on the last story

This picture was edited by myself, also I drew the cartoon.
Because of they are farmers, they can not feed his family just relying on farmland, so they go to cities for making money, and people call them migrant workers.
Because they do not have knowledge, they can not find an easy job in cities, so they have to do a number of difficult and dangerous manual labours, use their pair of hands, and make a large number of high buildings in cities.
The migrant workers do not have healthy insurance; even more, they do not know where they are going to claim after hurting. They are looked down by some citizens, but they are honest, they are great, they are not sophisticate, but they really need money.
When you are playing computers in the office, they probably are working hard under the sun, making more money to buy few books for their child. They usually choose the cheapest restaurant in the cities, there is one destination which is saving money for their family.
The disabled migrant worker is customer, so conductor should serve kindly, what rights have you to trample the man’s dignity. Like the old man’s phrase, “You’re not a human being!” It’s not because you do not have human card, you also do not have conscience. A person who has lost conscience, then he is unworthy to be a human.
When we discuss the natural disasters, the first affected areas must be rural area. After the dust storm, some villages have been submerged; during the drought, first is the people who live in villages lack of water; the healthy insurance universal, there are still some farmers can not touch that; if they get ill, most of them do not want to go to hospital, because they do not have enough money to pay the high price medical fees; when they come the cities, they have to suffer the discrimination. Nowadays, the citizens’ lives have become quite good, so could the local governments divert their attention on the farmers lives? Also the citizens should do something to help these people. I always see some drivers park their car on the sidewalk for the blind, these issues indicate that there are still lots of problems in our society, so each one devotes a little love, this society will be harmony.

Short story reflects a big problem in real society

This picture was edited by myself, also I drew the cartoon.
On a train, a young conductor stared at a middle-age man looks like a migrant labourer and said loudly: “check ticket.” The man rummaged all pockets; finally, he found his ticket and pinched in his hand. The conductor looked at him and smiled strangely, said: “this is a children’s ticket.” The man held in reddening, whispered: “the tickets prices of children are as same as disabilities.” The conductor looked at the man and asked: “are you disabled?” “Yes, I am disabled.” The man said. “Show me your disability card.” The conductor said. The man felt nervous, and said: “sorry, I do not have a disability card, when I bought the ticket, the conductor asked me to show the disability card, I have no choice, so I bought a children ticket.”
The young conductor sneer a bit: “no disability card, how can I know you are a disabled person?”
The man did not say anything, just took off his shoe, and rolled up his trousers; he has only half a foot. The conductor looked askance and said: “I just need the card!” the man look flurried, explained: “I live in countryside; the city council did not permit my application. Moreover, I do not have enough money to go to hospital for evaluation.” Few minutes later, the conductor impatiently said: “we just recognize the disability card. If you have the card, no problem you are disabled, without the card, you should buy a normal ticket.” The man became withered, he only has little money, and it is not enough to buy a normal ticket. He beseeched with a tearful voice: “I really do not have other money, these money which I bought the children ticket is from my friends’ help, please let me go!” the conductor said firmly: “no way.”
There is an old man beside this conductor felt angry, he stood up and stared at the conductor’s eyes, said: “are you a man?” the conductor felt puzzled, said: “are there any problems about I am man.” “You just tell me, are you a man?” “Yes, I am definitely a man!” “But, how can you prove you are a man? Show us your man card.” The passengers around were all laughing. The conductor hesitated in giving a reply: “I am a man stand on here, do you want say I am fake?” the old man shook his head and said: “I am similar to you, if you have man card you are a man, if you do not have it, you are not, I just need your man card.” The conductor could not think of any words to deal with. Then, the old man said with a smile: “OK, can you show me your human card?” once again, laughter filled the passengers. There is only one people did not laugh, he is the disable man, he looked all of this happened in front of him, we do not when, his eyes filled with tears, we also do not know, the tears are wronged, thankful or angry.
After reading this story, what do you think? Do you feel angry or other feelings? I think at least, we should learn respecting disable person and migrant workers from this story. They really need the help from this society, please give them more concerns, no matter the government or normal people.

Natural disasters or man-made disasters?

This year’s spring for most Chinese people is difficult. Few days ago, the dust storm attacked half of China, especially for the northwest of China. But, after that, the more difficult thing is continuously drought in five provinces in southwest of China recently. There are too much news happened during this disaster.
A 42 years old man sacrifices his life for searching water;
14 elderly knees down in order to ask the local government build a way to their village. What is the reason? Because, 4 years ago, they had paid the money to the local government for building the way; because they live in the mountains, and the mountain road is not wide enough, so the delivering water trucks can not reach their village directly, they have to walk 24 kilometers for getting water every day.
The lakes and well which local people live by have all dried up. Because of drought, the crops failed, the villagers will face shortage of food risks. Today, cleaning face and taking shower become a luxury. Even more, they do not have enough drinking water.
There are many factors lead to this situation, for example the government’s usual policies are not good enough; the local people probably focus on immediate interests and neglect the environment; the dry weather, it does not rain for a long time; also some people questioned, the water conservancy facilities are inadequate. Whatever, the local government should ensure the daily life of residents firstly.
Now, words can not render a true picture, the only way is the real photos, when you see the photos, that is only way to touch your soul deeply. Because of copyright, I can not post the relevant pictures on my blog, but I will link the relevant websites on my blog, you also can see the pictures.

A great foreign volunteer in a Chinese poor village

This picture is from Susan, it has got her permission and was edited by myself.
“The things I should do in this life, I have done, if I died today, I would not have regrets.” These words said by a German volunteer, his Chinese name is Lu Anke. His students said: “we will never forget him, never.” He has been in this small village for more than ten years.
Lu Anke was a German student who came to China for studying. After he graduating from university, he decided to be English in China, but he gave up good conditions in some rich places, he came to a very poor village which faraway from the cities. He refused the salary from the school; he makes money from helping people to translate the book into different languages. And he contribute all the money which is he earned to the charitable organization. His life relies on the 500 pounds from his parents every year. When other people asked him, you really do not like the material? He said: “I have found something is more important than that.” Yes, it is. He gave up a good job, his love, his entertainment, and a good life, finally, he came to here, help these kids who do not have any relationship to him before. He teaches music, art, English to these kids. The most important is he teaches the rules of life to his students. Because their parents all go to big cities to be a worker, they have to make money, so they leave their children in hometown, without home education, these kids look like wild, so Lu Anke teach them mutual cooperation.
After watching his story, I really was moved, the words I only can say is he is great. An ordinary foreign friend has been doing an extraordinary thing. Nowadays, most local governments only pay their attention to develop economy, to attract the investment; they ignore these people, and their lives. Many young people are crazy for living in large cities, why do not stop and think for a while? Why we can not put helping these people in our life plan? Is this the mistake of our education or our material society or too selfish us? A foreign can help the children in village without asking for anything, look at ourselves and ask us how many things we have done?

I do not have this guy’s photo, but I link a website about him.

We already have high speed rail, we don’t need maglev

The picture is the maglev in Shanghai (from city center to international airport).
The original picture has got the permission from Zhang Zhikun, and edited by myself, took by Zhang Zhikun.

I read a news about maglev recently, the reason that I interested in this news, because I know it is very expensive to built a maglev line, and I heard the maglev line in Shanghai need huge maintenance costs, at the same time, it is in a situation of losing money every year. Lately, the principal of Chinese Ministry Railways said: “Shanghai to Hangzhou maglev project has been approved.” We all know the railway in China belongs to the government, so they made decision; there are no other railway companies to say their opinions. Definitely, the speed of maglev is fast, it is really convenient, but is it the appropriate to build this maglev? They need a careful consideration.
Undeniable, Shanghai and Hangzhou all are two important cities in China, reducing the time from Shanghai to Hangzhou is good for the development of economy, the less time we use, the more benefits we get. But, there is already a high speed railway from Shanghai to Hangzhou; it costs around 48 minutes during the entire journey, if it becomes the maglev, it is going to cost 38 minutes, so compare with the high speeds railway, the maglev save 10minutes for passengers. For this 10 minutes, the government plan to invest 2.2billion pounds in this project. Some people probably the completion of maglev marks the Chinese railway will enter a new stage. It may well be asked; Is it really mean that? Is it worth?
During the transportation around annual Chinese News, there are still lots of people can not go back home, they can reunite with their families, because of not enough train tickets. A growing number of high speed trains start operating, but the problems of Spring Move have not resolved as before. Why the Ministry of Railways does not want to use some of the money to make this situation better, to consider the problems of national people, they are only interested in giving more convinces to the citizens in these two cities. Also, I do not think most people would like spend much more money on saving 10 minutes.

It’s time to focus on Dust storm

This picture is the dust storm in my hometown.
it took by Zhang Zhikun, I have got his permission.

Throughout the ages, a reference to the spring, we first think of green grass and trees, eventually we will have a vibrant scene in our mind. But these days, the weather reports in China all about the heavy dust storm, and there is too much news about dust storm, like the economic loss, environmental damage because of dust storm. I grew up in the northwest of China, that is a place always be hit by dust storm, so I understand it so deep. Two days before, a friend joked, he said: “I want to write a proposal to the government, we should have a holiday about avoiding the dust storm every year.” I said with a smile: “I am so lucky, I have been in a country without dust storm, and the environment of here is very good.” Joking aside, after all, I still will go back home, I still have to face to the dust storm. When the dust storm comes, the city suddenly under the dark.
In the northwest of China, soil erosion is very serious, much more serious is inappropriate human activities, for instance, the unrestricted cultivation and grazing, destruction of forests, digging grass, so that the ground lost their protective coating. In modern society, the scale and intensity of human activity lead to the natural environment in a state of extreme stress.
It is difficult to eradicate dust storms, especially, in China, such a large population country, and there is majority population in countryside. But we can do our best to control the deterioration of dust storms. Also, the government ought to establish a special construction fund for managing the dust storm. Poverty is the biggest obstacle for carrying out ecological construction and government increased investment in agriculture, support captive animals. The environment sacrifices for economic development, so the government should increase scientific and technological input. Finally, it is necessary to launch the relevant laws to help this process.
Today, realizing the bad influence of dust storm is very urgent, it is not only for Chinese people, it is for all human being; it is not only about dust storm, it is about the world environment. Protect environment, protect ourselves.

We are afraid of the house prices.

I drew this picture, and I edited it.
Today in China, the most popular topic must be the rising house prices. These years, the house prices affect the hearts of most Chinese people, and the rising house prices dispel their idea of buying a house. Indeed, when few years ago people complained the high prices in the large cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai; unconsciously, they started to find that they can not afford the house prices in the surrounding cities. Right now, for most residents in the larger cities in China, the crazy high house prices not only deprive the contemporaries housing benefits, also kidnap the happiness of the three generations.
So, in the recent People’s Congress, Chinese Premier said, and the government must take measures to stabilize the real estate market and curb the rising house prices. The basic requirement of majority of China’s urban residents is house prices return to a reasonable level, not allow the house prices to continue rising. In their view, the house prices have already too high to buy, also it is impossible to provide the enough public rental for the large population of middle income people by the government. So, more and more middle class people become “house slave”.
In recent years, the development of the real estate market results shows that market supervision has always been a “weak.” in China’s real estate market. Because of involved interests, relevant government departments tied with developer groups together. There is always a misunderstanding, the relevant government departments misread the principal contradiction of the housing problem in China today, they thought as long as resolve the housing problem of lowest income people, China’s real estate market are going to be OK, they plan to build millions of affordable houses, which can solve the basic problem. Actually, it looks like a drop in the bucket. We should know, the current principal contradiction about China’s housing problem is the vast majority of people can not afford a house, not just about the lowest income people.
People already can see today’s housing reform in China whether it is success or failure. When the “people-oriented” thought is truly going to implement; when the relevant government departments can cut the interests between themselves and the real estate organizations. We can have hope for solving the housing problem, or not the other new policy will be futile.

How did it happen!

I drew this picture, and I edited it.
I read news on “China Economic Times”, it said, in Shanxi province in China, nearly one hundred children after vaccinating, they died or became disabled.
It is so indignant to read such news, what causes this large mistake during the strictly process, product, storage, transportation. I got some information from the report; the reason is an individual company’s managed the supply authority of vaccine in the whole province, and the company use a false name to run their business, also they are disqualified from selling vaccine. The more ridiculous thing is the company and relevant department all refused the journalist,
Is the death or disability because of vaccine? It probably difficult to distinguish the result quickly, it involves epidemiological and product quality. But we all focus on these children; we do not hope this fact was covered.
There are still a series of questions. Without the permission, how does the company run their business so successful? How can the company use a false name for a long time? Where is the Quality Supervision Department? If these things are true, obviously, this is collusion between the company and government. Without the effective system, money distorts the public properties of public health.
Children are the vaccinated main part, injuring on children is not allowed in any societies, this is an ethical bottom line, especially for public healthy agencies. At the same, we believe, the investigation about this accident will be responsible for whole society, telling the truth to public.

High speed Railway High price

The original picture has got the permission, it took by Susan, and edited by myself.

During the Chinese New Year, missing family likes a thin train ticket. I am in here, the hometown is there. Over the years, a train ticket represents endless emotion. Lots of people stand in the strange city’s train station for a long time, the purpose is same and simple, and they just need the train tickets from here to their hometown. The ability of traditional rail network can not satisfy all of them. Today in China, the high-speed railway line finished one by one. “High Speed Rail Era” reduces the most time from one city to the other city. At same time, the high price beyond the normal people’s holding capability.
When we are waiting for the coming of high-speed railway, we hope it will bring the convenience to us, but the high price broke our beautiful dream; few years ago, we said “by train like by bus” because of high-speed railway, but it seems impossible now, buses still have cheap ticker, flexible line, but for high speed railway, we have no choice. This high-speed railway is to alleviate the current capacity of China’s serious shortage of railway operations problems, the foothold always on people’s livelihood, it is not only for reducing the time, fixing the problems of low capacity, it should think more about the capacity of normal people. Many people still live in the bottom of our society, their lives are not easy, why make their backing way more expensive?
There is a question, how can we trust our expectation on such a high railway price.
